Who we are
First Push NZ runs anonymous, paid small-group video hangouts for adults in New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who sees it, and your choices. It is written to meet the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Questions: the support email shown in the app.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, your mobile number, and your date of birth (to check you are 18 or over; other members only ever see an age range). You sign in with codes sent to your email, so there is no password.
- Your anonymous identity: the anonymous username we give you, and an optional self-declared tag.
- Your profile (optional, private): languages, interests, work, study, age range, habits and, only if you opt in, culture. It is never shown in rooms.
- Activity: the rooms you book, bank-transfer payment references, coupons, ratings, room requests, and reports, feedback and appeals you send.
- Messages: in-room chat and direct messages with people you shared a session with.
- Notifications: your notification choices, and a device token if you allow notifications in the Android app or a browser.
- Technical data: your IP address and basic device and error information, used for security, rate limiting and fixing faults. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
Camera, microphone and your face
Your face is blurred on your own device, before any video leaves it. Other members, and we, receive only the blurred video. If the blur ever stops working, your camera is paused (a black screen) rather than showing your face. Your voice is not altered, so other members can hear you. We ask for camera and microphone permission only to join a live room or test the blur.
Members can't screenshot or screen-record live rooms in the Android app.
Recordings
Sessions are not recorded at the moment. If that changes, recording will only happen in rooms that say so clearly before you book, and only with your consent.
How we use your information
- To run your account, take bookings and payments, and run the live sessions.
- To keep members safe: moderation, votes, reports, bans and appeals.
- To send you the messages you need (codes, booking confirmations, reminders) and, only if you allow it, offers and suggestions for rooms.
- To meet legal obligations, including tax record-keeping.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else handles it
We use service providers to run First Push NZ: hosting and storage, email and SMS delivery, a network and security provider, and (if you use the Android app and turn notifications on) Google's Firebase service to deliver notifications. They process data for us and only for that purpose. Some are based overseas, so your information may be stored or processed outside New Zealand. We may also share information with the Police or another authority when the law requires it or to prevent serious harm.
How long we keep it
- Account and profile: until you delete your account.
- Payment and booking records: kept for at least 7 years, because New Zealand tax law requires it. If you delete your account they stay, with your identity removed.
- Reports, kicks and moderation history: kept, with your identity removed once you delete your account, so repeat problems can be spotted.
- Banned accounts: if your account has been banned, we keep your email and mobile number even after deletion, so the ban can't be avoided by signing up again.
- Room chat: stays in the room's record under your anonymous session name, which can't be linked back to you once your account is deleted.
- Recordings: see above.
Your choices and rights
- See or correct your information: change your profile any time under Profile, or email us to ask for a copy of what we hold.
- Delete your account: do it yourself in a few minutes at Delete account (also under Profile). We wait 7 days before deleting so you can change your mind: sign in again in that time and the deletion is cancelled. Deleting removes your email, mobile number, date of birth, profile, messages, notifications and device tokens, and cancels unused coupons. It can't be undone.
- Notifications: choose what you receive under Notification settings, and turn off app notifications in your phone settings.
Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS and secure WebSockets), sign-in codes are stored hashed, and access to personal information and recordings is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us straight away if you think your account has been misused.
Adults only
First Push NZ is for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and protect forms from forgery. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes and complaints
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
